The points were shared at the Marine Travel Arena between Marne and Scarborough in a lacklustre game of football.
A fine finish from Charlie Jolley was cancelled out thanks to an early strike in the second half from Stephen Walker.
There was a good pace to the game in the early stages but neither team were able to create any chances.
The best chance in the opening minutes fell to Scarborough’s Rio Allan who smacked the outside of the right hand side post after pinching the ball off Josh Wardle at the touchline.
Scarborough began to show some signs of real quality in the final third but were still unable to force Fraser Barnsley into a save.
Despite this, it was the home team who struck first in the 28th minute of the game.
The goal seemed to give Marine more control of the game and they began to create a lot more in the final third however Finlay Sinclair Smith was the only Marine player to force Whitley into a save after the hosts went ahead.
Scarborough still posed a threat on the counter and Barnsley was forced into making two important saves after shots from Lewis Maloney and Don Tear.
It was a perfect start to the second half for The Seagulls as they pulled Marine back within the first minute after the restart.
Harry Green played a great ball across the face of the goal before Walker finished it off for his 12th of the season.
After drawing level, the visitors looked most likely to go in front as they began to cause Marine some issues at the back.
Their best chance fell to Walker who couldn’t direct his effort on target after a nice delivery into the box from substitute Jack Waldron.
Bobby Grant’s side still looked dangerous when going forward and they had the best chance of them all to win it in the 66th minute.
Sinclair Smith found himself one on one with Whitley in the penalty area but thanks to a fine save from the keeper the Marine number 7 was unable to convert a golden opportunity.
With the game ending level Marine manager, Grant said:
“It’s another point on the board. It’s a good point but it’s a frustrating one from my team because we have had enough chances in the second half to win two games.
“On another day we score them [the chances] but it was one of those games.”
