A late Lewis Bell goal saw Marine get all three points against Chester at the MTA.
The win moves Marine 9th in the Enterprise National League North, two points off the playoff places.
Whilst the first half had little chances in both boxes, there was plenty of fight and determination showcased by both teams.
After an even start, things got more complicated for Chester after Kevin Roberts was dismissed for kicking Marine’s goalkeeper Jack McIntyre in the face.
The best chance of the half fell to Ofrande Zanzala, who against his old club could only direct his header past the left hand side post.
Marine started the second half pressurising their opponents and after some minor opportunities, substitute James Potter opened the scoring.
After a deep ball delivered into the box the youngster tapped home his second goal in four days to edge Marine ahead.
Just two minutes later Chester were awarded a penalty after Leigh Whelan brought down Lewis Leigh in the penalty area.
Chester’s first substitute of the night, Connor Woods was able to convert coolly from the spot.
Bobby Grant’s side responded positively to being pegged back and thanks to their second substitute of the night, Bell, they were able to snatch the win late on.
A low driven ball drifted through to the number 15 before he smashed home his team's winning goal.
Three points didn’t just mean Marine moved up in the table but it also meant that they defeated Chester for the first time in the National League North.
