Football returns to the Marine Travel Arena as Buxton travel up to Merseyside in the Enterprise National League North.

The contest is the first home game of the season for the new-look Bobby Grant Marine after they were slightly beaten against South Shields last weekend.

Lots of Marine fans will get their first look at the seven new signings Grant has brought into the club since his appointment in May.

Previous meetings

Last season saw Marine play in the sixth tier of English football for the first time in their history.

Two fixtures against Buxton saw The Mariners play against the Derbyshire side for the first time in over 10 years.

Two goals from Bradley Holmes saw Marine take all three points away from home.

This came before a triumphant 4-1 victory for Buxton at the MTA in January when The Bucks were chasing down the playoff spots.

Buxton

John Mcgrath’s side finished in the playoff places last season and will be hoping for another finish in the top seven, come May.

They will be hoping to continue their positive start to the season against Radcliffe last week when they won 2-1 at home.

A lot has changed at Marine since last season. A new manager, seven new players and still plenty to get used to with Bobby Grant at the helm.

Relegation seemed inevitable in January but after an excellent run of form between February and April, they survived their first season in the National League North.

Expectations? Fans will be hoping for a finish higher up the table than last season and will lots of new signings made in the summer transfer window- their chances of this seem realistic.

Kick off at the MTA is at 3pm on Saturday.
