In a chaotic game, Buxton came out on top in a five-goal thriller at the MTA.

It was a frantic start to play in Crosby, and after some early pressure, it was the away side who got an early opener.

After the ball was sent over the top of the Marine defence, Tai Sodje was able to keep the ball away from a chasing Josh Wardle and place the ball into the back of the net.

The Marine response was somewhat positive as they looked to draw level after going behind.

A few half-chances may have sounded the alarms for the away team, but their defence remained strong and they continued to pose a threat going forward.

The hosts were much improved in the second half and equalised through an Ash Hunter penalty.

A second penalty was awarded after a handball on the line from George Ward. Hunter couldn’t convert this time.

Another handball in the Buxton penalty area led to another Marine penalty, which was tucked away in the 71st by George Newell, this time to give Marine the lead.

Buxton, who were still dangerous on the break, equalised through Tate Campbell after Marine failed to clear their lines in the 18-yard area.

Things then went from bad to worse for the home team when Buxton were awarded a penalty, which was converted by Sodje, who grabbed his second of the afternoon.
