Marine and Alfreton shared the spoils in the National League North in a game that lacked any real creativity.
The two teams played out a 0-0 draw at the Marine Travel Arena after both teams struggled to create chances in the final third.
Both sides struggled to get a foothold in the opening stages as they both battled against the Crosby winds.
The first 15 minutes saw the two sides create some half chances but nothing to trouble either goalkeeper in a very scrappy and cagey start.
A first real chance of the game came in the 29th minute when Jed Abbey unleashed a promising effort towards goal only to see it superbly tipped over by the returning Max Metcalfe.
As the half came to a close, there were few chances for both Marine and Alfreton whilst the game continued to be very physical as a handful of bookings were shown before the interval.
The second half started in a much similar way to proceedings in the first 45 as both teams continued to create little chances.
Marine’s best chance of the game came when Bayleigh Sloane, who made his first start for his side, stepped up to take a free kick.
His effort curled towards the left hand side post and clipped the top of the bar after taking a slender touch from George Kentworthy.
The game continued to be very subdued in the remaining minutes as both sides were unable to find that all important winning goal.
