Liverpool’s Premier League title win has sparked conversation from pundits across the UK including Manchester United hero Gary Neville.

Arne Slot’s side wrapped up their 20th league title in style with a 5-1 thumping of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

There was a wide concern this time last year after Jurgen Klopp announced he would leave the club, but Slot delivered the title in his very first campaign and with four games to spare.

Former Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill was quick to praise Slot after winning his side the league in his first season, something that has only been done by four other managers.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, he said:

“So, what he’s done has really been fantastic because from the outside it seems totally seamless. Their consistency this season really has been unbelievable in many aspects and he deserves all the credit in the world.

“It defies belief really because they have won it with games to spare.”

And Neville, pundit on Sky Sports and Manchester United great, also spoke highly of Liverpool's success.

He said: "I think they deserve great congratulations. I think it's one of the great coaching performances that we've seen - to come in from Jurgen Klopp, to not get the players he wanted in the transfer window, to have the shadow of the three, probably the best players in their positions in Europe, hanging over him all season, you've got to hand it to him.

"It's absolutely a brilliant achievement."

Fellow Sky Sports pundits and former Reds Jamie Redknapp and Daniel Sturridge were also full of praise for the job Slot has done at Anfield.

Redknapp said:

“If you were to describe this team with one word, it would be relentless. Arne Slot has been so cool all season.

"When you say they have had no major signings, the major signing was the manager.”

Sturridge, who came close to winning the Premier League in the 2013/14 season believes there is more to come from this Liverpool team.

"I truly believe there is more that Liverpool can achieve. There's more for them, more titles. They know they can do it”, he said.

"When a manager comes in and does it in his first season, it gives you that belief that you can go on and replicate it. I'm sure there will be some recruitment and contracts that will be sewn up to keep their best players for longer periods of time.

"This is just the beginning for the manager and for these players and I'm really excited for them."

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher spoke on the significance of drawing level with Manchester United on 20 Premier League titles.

“They kept telling us we were “living in the past”. You don’t hear that anymore," he said.

“Slot has secured his place in Anfield folklore by restoring parity with Ferguson. He will be riding the number 20 open-top bus on the parade.

Once the many celebrations are over, all eyes will be on the timetable to jump on board number 21.”
